ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY

 

Arthroscopic surgery, or just arthroscopy, refers to a surgical procedure that utilizes a small fiberoptic scope and camera system that allows the surgeon to visualize the inside of joints through small incisions. 

​

Small incisions mean less tissue damage, quicker recoveries, and lower risks. Also, arthroscopy makes it possible to better visualize joints because the surgeon is able to magnify the image, see into small recesses, and see around corners using angled lenses. Arthroscopy can be conveniently done in the Surgery Center at the DOC.

 

Additional benefits include less pain compared to open surgery. Arthroscopy can be used in surgeries involving all of the joints. The surgeons at Doral Orthopedic Center routinely use arthroscopy in the treatment of issues and injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle.

COMPREHENSIVE FRACTURE CARE

 

A fracture is any break in the surface of the bone. Sprains can sometimes include a fracture. While some fractures are treated with casts, others only require a brace, sling or other support. You may have been seen in the emergency room or by your family physician and referred to an orthopedic physician. Our orthopedic physician(s) will determine the best treatment of the fracture and perform the follow-up care.  If you suspect a fracture, contact our specialized urgent care immediately.

COMPREHENSIVE SPINAL CARE

ORTHOBIOLOGICS

 

PRP injections are now available in Doral by Board Certified Orthopedic Physicians. Candidates for this treatment are patients with osteoarthritis or a tendon/ligament injury who have exhausted conservative therapies (rest, medication, physical therapy) but aren’t ready for surgery.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

 

The Physical therapists (PTs) at the DOC are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who can help patients reduce pain and improve or restore mobility - in many cases without expensive surgery and often reducing the need for long-term use of prescription medications and their side effects.

SPINAL INJECTIONS

 

Spinal injections are used in two ways. First, they can be performed to diagnose the source of back, leg, neck, or arm pain (diagnostic). Second, spinal injections can be used as a treatment to relieve pain (therapeutic). Most spinal injections are performed as one part of a more comprehensive treatment program.
