Liam McCarthy, M.D. | Board Certified Pain Management Physician

Dr. McCarthy is an interventional pain management specialist. Dr. McCarthy completed his residency of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York University at the Rusk Institute. He subsequently completed a fellowship at the anesthesia pain medicine program at Case Western / University Hospitals of Cleveland. 

Dr. McCarthy is board certified in Pain Management and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His training included the use of minimally invasive outpatient procedures to diagnose and treat joint pain of the spine, disc-related problems of the neck and back, as well as complex pain issues.

 

Dr. McCarthy has the distinct advantage of being trained in both a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency and an anesthesia-based pain fellowship to develop a more diverse approach to pain management, lowering the dependency on pharmaceuticals. 

Interventional pain management specialist: pain procedures including cervical/ lumbar facet injections and radiofrequency ablation, transforaminal/ interlaminar epidurals, sacroiliac joint injections, lumbar sympathetic/ stellate ganglion blocks and spinal cord stimulator placement. Perform electro diagnostic studies for conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, radiculopathy among other conditions. Manage chronic and cancer pain with medications, physical therapy, trigger point and joint injections.
