​Hand and upper extremity surgery

 

Dr. Balaguer is a board-certified hand and upper extremity surgeon specializing in conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow as well as microvascular surgery and nerve repairs.

​

He graduated from The Ohio State University with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences. He attended medical school in his native Puerto Rico.​

​

Upon graduation, Dr. Balaguer obtained an NIH grant and spent 2 years at the Orthopedic Research Laboratory of Columbia University Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

​

He completed his formal training at The University of Miami with a hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

​

Dr. Balaguer is an avid athlete and has been part of the medical team of different sports teams at the high school, college and professional level.

​

Dr. Balaguer is a two-time cancer survivor and is very passionate about his charity work with cancer patients. He is involved in many charities including the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
